Stephen M. Perry Appointed Fraud Bureau Director
Washington, DC -- DC Insurance Commissioner Lawrence Mirel announced the appointment of Stephen M. Perry as Director of the Fraud Bureau for the DC Department of Insurance and Securities (DISR). "Mr. Perry 's many years of experience and expertise in combating insurance fraud will be a tremendous addition to our department," said Commissioner Mirel.
Prior to his appointment with DISR, Mr. Perry held Special Investigation Unit (SIU) positions from field investigation leadership up to vice president national level positions with American International Group, Travelers Insurance and Fireman's Fund insurance companies. "Our goal is to stop insurance and securities fraud in the District. Mr. Perry brings the knowledge and know-how to get the job done, " said Commissioner Mirel.
In addition to his work experience, Mr. Perry is a past board member of the following organizations: the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud; the Insurance Fraud Committee of American Society of Industrial Security; the Insurance Fraud Management Committee of Insurance Services Organization; and the National Insurance Crime Bureau Western Region Advisory Board.
Mr. Perry earned a Bachelor of Science Degree at Oregon State University and a Master of Arts Degree at the University of Arizona. He also attended the Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Mr. Perry has had a military career that spanned a 30-year period in the US Army Special Forces and included three tours of duty in Vietnam. |
