District of Columbia to Extend Deadline for Insurance License Renewals

Washington, DC - The DC Department of Insurance and Securities Regulation (DISR) has extended the period of licensure for entities and individuals with a license expiration date of April 30, 2003.  The license expiration date has been extended to June 30, 2003.

"DISR is in the process of converting its licensing data to a new licensing database system. The new licensing system, known as the State Based Systems (SBS), is a comprehensive web-based system, which will facilitate the on-line licensing of producers seeking a license in the District of Columbia.  All non-resident individuals and entities are strongly encouraged to use the SBS licensing system located on the World Wide Web at http://www.licenseregistry.com/. Companies are strongly encouraged to utilize the PIN Gateway for processing agent appointments and terminations.

If you have any questions about this process, please contact Luther Ellis, Assistant Director for Consumer and Professional Services on (202) 442-7811.

The DC Department of Insurance and Securities Regulation (DISR) has two missions, (1) to provide fair, efficient and fast regulatory supervision of the insurance and securities businesses for the protection of the citizens of the District of Columbia, and (2) to create conditions that will retain and attract national and international insurance and other financial businesses to the District.
